More nutrition ideas to help reduce colon cancer risk
|
Some new research shows that different types of food may help protect against developing colon cancer in different parts of the colon.
For example, cancer in the proximal and distal colon was reduced with a diet high in vegetables in the brassica family – broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts.
A reduced risk of cancer in the distal colon was also associated with eating more apples and dark yellow vegetables.
It should be interesting over the next few years to see if more detailed dietary information is found to be associated or not with specific cancers.
