Bed Bugs
|
I recently saw a program where they were talking about bed bugs and it freaked me out. Did you know that they are on the rise here in the US and are not just in cities on the East Coast? Since it is summer and people are traveling more I wanted to share with you how to check for bed bugs and a few tips to get rid of them.
Checking For Bed Bugs:
- Pull back the bedspread and sheets to inspect the mattress seams of all the beds in the room. Run your finger along the entire seam, checking for dark brown spots.
- Check along the bed frame and, if possible, behind the headboard.
- Look inside dresser table drawers, being sure to inspect the side facing the wall.
Getting Rid of Bed Bugs:
- Clean up the clutter; get rid of empty boxes and store items in plastic when possible.
- Wash and heat dry any clothing, bedding, etc regularly. If you have bed bugs dry first then wash and dry again.
- Call a pest control; you will never get them out all by yourself. You need a professional.
These are of course only a few methods as there are many things to do and many ways to check. Just be diligent especially when traveling. be sure you check your suitcases when you come home because you may have brought them with you without knowing it.
